The House

Dār as-Sayf wal-Qalam is the house. As-Sayf wal-Qalam is also the game series it is named for, and the first title in that series is Qurṭuba, set in al-Andalus.

The name

The sword and the pen. The sword is the games, which are about war and rule. The pen is the written work, and the record that every claim in it is checked against.

How the work is made

As-Sayf wal-Qalam is built slowly and precisely, outside the studios, with every Shar'i information being carefully and accurately researched manually by devoted students of the Deen of Allah.

Nothing is announced before it is finished.

The standard

• No images of living beings, in any part of any work.
• Everything Shar'i is taken from the books themselves, not from summaries of them.
• Realism is the only tie-breaker. Where a rule would be more fun but false, it stays false and is left out.
• Plain language. A thing is called what it is.
